Sorbitol, is a chemical Sugar Substitute. I believe, back during Vietnam ((even maybe up to a bit earlier in the Korean War here, potentially)) *Industrial Sorbitol* was first used in stuff like this. Usually these (Coconut-Fudge) Cookies ((that's supposed to be their flavor, btw)) from all the Vietnam-era rations (those here, whom have them in it as desserts). are almost always expired, as the Sorbitol used in them changes/spoils over time. They very rarely are edible (or deemed to be so atleast) apparently the very rare ones that the sorbitol hasnt changed over the years. are okay tasting at best and are nothing too big, to write home about. *Source; I watch Steve1989MREinfo.
